Easter baking got gourmet (by accident).

Happy Easter to you all!  Like some of you I felt like baking. I know. What a surprise, right? I don’t know how many of you have ever bought these mini pineapples at the market, but I had not, so…I bought one. $4.99 each! Ouch. I had no idea what to expect but I was hoping it would be as sweet as the regular ones.  Alas, it did not yield much fruit. However, I decided to experiment with it by cutting them in half,  pouring creme brulee batter into them, and baking them for 45 minutes.  The result? Wow. I can’t begin to describe how yums they turned out.  The juices from the pineapple added to the creamy flavor of the custard. Sooo super yums! I advise you all to try it but it truly was a labor of love. The pineapples leaked on the bottom of the glass dish. By the end I resorted to scooping out extra creme brulee I had leftover in additional ramekins into them before brulee’ng the sugar on top.  Next time, I will experiment with regular pineapples.  Worth the effort? Oh, most definitely!

March is a busy month for baking!

So far this month has been busy!  We started experimenting with incorporating Girl Scout Cookies into the mix (literally).  We had the pleasure of creating some seasonal recipes like our Girl Scout Samoas & Tagalongs Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and our Samoas Chocolate Brownie Creme Brulee.  I’m happy to announce that we have entered both of these scrumptious creations into the Taste of Home Girl Scout Cookie Contest.  Crossing our fingers that we get into the 16 finalists!  Of course winning would be fantastic, but being a finalist would already be an honor.   Stay tuned.

We also introduced our Sugar Cookie line, “Remembering (pet’s name)”.   Our dearly departed family pets are always in our hearts and what better way to say “I’m sorry” when a family member or friend loses a pet than the gift of cookies with a personal touch to give along with your sympathy?   Here’s a few examples of the sugar cookies we baked this month. We can customize them to look as much like your furry friend as possible.

If any of our treats sound good to you and you want to order, please feel free to contact us at any time.  Please allow a good week or so for large orders.

We look forward to hearing from you! Meanwhile,  enjoy March Madness and keep us in mind for all of your March cravings.

Orange Creamsicle & Cherry Cream Sugar Cookies!

Look what we’ve been baking.  These soft orange sugar cookies are under-baked to perfection.  We added freshly grated orange rind into the cookie mix.   We made 2 kinds of frosting — one with orange extract and vanilla and orange marmalade,  the other with maraschino cherry juice and finely chopped maraschino cherries.  The result?  Extra awesome.  These are a must try and everyone at home loves them.

Home-made pecan pralines!

Yes, we have tried pecan pralines from different places all over the country. Still, we found that they just don’t have enough pecans. So, we revived our recipe and packed them in with all the pecans one could want. You don’t have to travel to New Orleans to get that buttery, sugary, home-made flavor. We have them right here in L.A.  🙂
